The Ancient Romans discovered the stone actually marketed with the mark  Basaltina close to Viterbo and immediately put it to use as part of the consolidation of their Empire. They used it to literally build the foundations of their greatness, making a lasting imprint on the civilisation that would later be admired by future generations. The Romans created wide solid roads and imposing monuments from the quarry owned by the  Basaltina s.r.l. to demonstrate their power.

This legacy was passed on to the Tecchi family. Since 1925 the family has been operating a production system to extract, process, select, hone and distribute the products under the trademark Basaltina®. The company's exacting standards have earned it the maximum official recognition available in its field.

Since 2020 is part of the Italian Register of Historical Trademarks of National Interest, prestigious recognition for the innovation, internationality and sustainability of Basaltina S.r.l.
